Past Screenings

Persepolis

Persepolis  is a 2007 French animated film based on an autobiographical graphic novel of the same name by Marjan Satrapi.  The film  was written and directed by Satrapi with Vincent Paronnaud. The film is a coming of age story set against the background of the Iranian Revolution. The film was co-winner of the Jury Prize at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Why not check out the trailer. The Film screening will take place in Costigans bar at 19:30 on Tuesday June 18th. See below for a map to Costigans.


Life of Brian

For our March screening we showed the atheist classic 'Monty Python's Life of Brian' and this took place in the function room above the Roundy Pub on Castle Street. For anyone who doesn't know this irreverent satire of biblical films it stars the late Graham Chapman as Brian, who is born on the original Christmas, in the stable next door. He then spends his life being mistaken for a messiah. The screeningwas held at 7:30pm.

The Ledge

For our next screening We are going to be showing 2011's 'The Ledge'  a movie that mix genres, part psychological drama, part philosophy debate, part thriller, and part love-story, opening with a man contemplating jumping to his death. The screening will again take place in the function room above the Roundy Pub on Castle Street and will take place on Monday April 22nd at 7:30pm. Afterwards we will be holding a social event in the same room  so feel free to pop along late and meet your fellow godless Corkonians. A Map to the venue is below.


Magnolia

Our February film screening was of of the 1999 drama 'Magnolia', an epic mosaic of several interrelated characters in search of happiness, forgiveness, and meaning in the San Fernando Valley. The screening took place on March 19th at 8pm at the Camden Palace, an artists collective located over the bridge from the Opera house. Photos from the event can be found here. 



 I Heart Huckabees

The first screening of the film club was of I Heart Hucabees, an ‘existential comedy’ and took place in the Camden Palace on Tuesday the 22nd of January. The film screening was a collaborative event with the UCC Atheist Agnostic, Secularist and Humanist Society. Pictures from the veent can be found here.
