Darwin Day - February 12th

Darwin Day is a global celebration of science and reason held on or around Feb. 12, the birthday anniversary of evolutionary biologist Charles Darwin. It is an international celebration of both science and humanity as well as the discoveries and life of Charles Darwin - the man who first described biological evolution via natural selection with scientific rigor.
Darwin Day 2012
As well as a celebration of the anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth on February 12th 1809, the day expresses gratitude for the enormous benefits that scientific knowledge, acquired through human curiosity and ingenuity, has contributed to the advancement of humanity. Last year, the Cork Humanists marked the occasion with some wine, music, a birthday cake for Mr. Darwin and a guest speaker - Dr. John Murray, a lecturer in Paleontology (fossils!) at NUI Galway, who gave a presentation entitled "Darwin's Revelations". You can watch part of the lecture here.
We have had nature walks in recent years, in 2018 we walked in Killarney's National Park and in 2019 we walked in Kenmare, in Gleninchaquin Park.
